HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Dogs and cats are wagging their tails and getting ready for Christian County Animal Shelter’s largest adoption event of the entire year, The Dog Days of Summer.

“This brings in hundreds of people to adopt our shelter pets and support local businesses from the community,” said Melissa Goff, Executive Director, CCAS. The Dogs Days of Summer takes place during the 400 Mile Yard Sale event June 6-8. During these three days, the animal shelter gets more traffic than any other time of the year as people from all over Kentucky join in on the yearly tradition.

During the event, the shelter will host vendors of all types including Keisha’s Famous Wings and Soul Food, Beaded by Dionte, Taquitos Taco Truck, Starbird Gourmet Popcorn, Bumble and Bean, and more.

Along with local vendors people can expect bouncy houses, face painting, a photo booth, and a special appearance from Garfield the Cat.

The shelter will have many cats and dogs varying in ages, breeds, and sizes waiting to be adopted.  The shelter will also provide pet microchipping, and nail trims for $15. “The Christian County Animal Shelter takes great pride in being able to educate our community on the importance of adoption, spaying and neutering,” Goff added.
