HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Flood Warning is still in effect Thursday morning from after up to five inches of rain accumulated during storms Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service warns that the South Fork Little River near the Bypass could be seeing residual flooding. The heavy rainfall caused a sharp rise of the river, cresting to 18.2 feet. Levels should fall below the flood stage back to 6.2 feet by Thursday afternoon.

Flooding on Fort Campbell closes Gate 7 to non-commercial traffic until further notice, said a news release for Fort Campbell. The commercial lane will remain open to larger vehicles despite some standing water in the lane, but non-commercial traffic will have to go to another gate due to the level of standing water.

After hours of severe weather overnight, no additional rain or storms is predicted for Thursday. Skies should begin to clear through the day, with wind gusts up to 22 mph, according to the NWS.
