Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary holding open house to commemorate school’s closure

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – An open house will be held at Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Elementary School on May 17 to allow former students, staff, and members of the community to visit the school as it before it closes.

The end of the 2024 school year will mark the closure of the elementary school, which will reopen in the fall as the new Hopkinsville Middle School. The open house will begin at 11:30 a.m. and go through 1:30 p.m., with a tree planting and final remarks at 12:30 p.m.

Johnna Brown with Christian County Public Schools said it is part of the district’s realignment of facilities plan that was adopted in 2023.
