HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library has an array of activities planned for their Summer Reading Program beginning with a Kick-Off Party on June 1, at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“This year’s program has a great mix of events and hands-on activities for all age groups,” said Tiffany Luna, HCCPL Executive Director. “The library’s team has worked hard to create a program that is engaging and fun.” The Kick-Off Party will have family fun including outdoor games and free hotdogs, according to a news release from HCCPL.

The six-week reading program will include trivia nights, sewing classes, a visit from Smokey the Bear, a magic show and much more, all while encouraging children and young adults to continue reading over the summer break.

Participants can earn prizes by logging reading hours, and after reading for five hours, participants will receive a prize bag and a raffle ticket. The raffle ticket can be used to select which prizes you want. “The more hours you read, the more tickets you earn, the better your chance of winning,” said Cheyanne Turner, Youth Services librarian, HCCPL.

At the end of the six weeks, the library will raffle off more than 25 prizes including tabletop games, gift cards to local restaurants, mini refrigerators, and a Little Tikes Adventure Rover. On July 13 the program will conclude with a foam party from 1-2:30 p.m. There will be free snow cones and a Kona Ice truck on site.
