HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With the Christian County Budget Address occurring back in May, the fiscal court has officially approved the proposed budget for the county at the June 25 meeting.

During the initial budget address, Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam presented the annual county budget, establishing several goals for the county including maximizing their relationship with Fort Campbell, pursing financial stability, enhancing the safety of residents, and focusing on population growth.

Revenue costs for the county for the 2024-2025 fiscal year total at $48 million. Broken down further, $18.5 million of the budget is set aside for the county’s general fund, with additional allocations for roads and bridges totaling $3.7 million, $9.2 million for the jail fund, and $3.5 million for the county’s health insurance fund, which experienced a slight increase this year. There are also funds for E911 fees, a general obligation bond, and an American Rescue Plan fund.

During the Christian County Fiscal Court meeting on Tuesday morning, Gilliam dictated the proposed budget for the second reading. The motion to accept the budget was approved by all magistrates.
