HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two people have been arrested after leading Christian County deputies on a high-speed pursuit in the Baldwins Appliance area.
On Aug. 15, at around 4 p.m., a detective with the CCSO Anti-Crime Unit (ACU) initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling down Fort Campbell Boulevard, near Baldwins Appliance area, according to a CCSO news release.
Initially, the vehicle did pull over, and the driver, a 41-year-old Hopkinsville man, was removed and arrested for an active failure to appear warrant.
Then the passenger, a 35-year-old Hopkinsville woman, took over the driver’s seat and fled the scene, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit.
She led deputies on a chase through various streets, according to CCSO, including Marietta Drive, Patrick Avenue and Fort Campbell Boulevard. The Sheriff’s Office stated that she demonstrated reckless disregard for public safety during the pursuit by failing to yield at multiple stop signs and intersections, and almost striking several vehicles.
The pursuit continued onto Pennyrile Parkway, where her vehicle was trying to cross over into oncoming traffic. Deputies prevented her from entering the oncoming traffic lanes, during which time her vehicle struck two Sheriff’s Office vehicles.
She was taken into custody after refusing to exit the vehicle and was charged with the following:
- Resisting Arrest
- Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree
- Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree
- Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
- Disregard – Fail to Yield Right of Way
- Assault, 3rd Degree – Police Officer or Probation Officer
- Failure to or Improper Signal
Additionally, she was served with five outstanding warrants for Felony Probation Violation.
“The Christian County Sheriff’s Office commends the swift and professional response of its Deputies and Detectives in apprehending the suspect and ensuring public safety,” said the CCSO in the news release.
