HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The morning commute for drivers in Christian County was drastically affected by a semi-truck fire on the interstate at mile marker 86 heading westbound. Smoke could be seen for miles down the interstate while emergency crews worked to extinguish the flames.

Traffic flow was diverted off of exit 86 and the interstate was temporarily closed. The truck was transporting construction debris, and green debris caught fire inside the truck according to Christian County Emergency Management, spokesperson Randy Graham.

I-24 was fully open by 9:30 a.m. as the semi-truck has been moved to an empty parking lot on 41-A at Highway 117.
