HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The sweet aroma of chili is set to fill downtown Hopkinsville on Saturday, Oct. 26 as amateur chefs compete for a $1,000 cash prize in the annual MAC Chili Cook-Off and Batter Capital of the World Cornbread Challenge.
Hosted by the Christian County Military Affairs Committee, this event draws crowds to Founders Square for a day of sampling chili and tasting homemade cornbread. Throughout the day, attendees can go from booth to booth with a paid sample cup and will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites. A winner will be announced at 5 p.m. along with a crowd favorite.
Last year, University Heights Academy took first place in the chili-cookoff, while Terry Meacham with “Misfit Cornbread” took first in the cornbread competition. Interested teams can register for $95 by Oct. 12 or pay $20 for the cornbread challenge. Active-duty military can participate for free. To register, visit the Christian County Chamber website.
