HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Pembroke Fire Department is hosting a Family Fire Safety Event to help teach the community about fire prevention. This is the eighth year the event will take place, set for Oct. 19 from 2 p.m through 5 p.m. There will be live demonstrations from firefighters, food, games, and a bounce house for kids.

With the theme of “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you”, important fire prevention information will be shared, and they will offer extinguisher training, allowing people to practice what it takes to put out a real fire. Kids will also have the opportunity to operate a fire hose or try out the firefighter combat challenge.

Pennyrile Electric will have their high-voltage demonstration trailer set up to share electrical safety tips for homes, and Jones Brothers Towing will have two vehicle extraction demonstrations. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is planning to attend with a live K9 demonstration, and more.

The event will be at the Pembroke Fire Department at 118 Maple Street in Pembroke, Kentucky.
