HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.

Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:

This gorgeous canine is Mildred! She is a one-year-old fawn and white Pit mix who was brought to the shelter as a stray through Hopkinsvilleanimal control. Mildred has been in here for a little over two months. She has done fantastic with the staff and everyone else she has met at the shelter. She should do great with kids of all ages and has gotten along well with other dogs she has been around. We do not know how she feels about cats so a trial adoption is recommended if you have them. We also don’t know for sure if she is housebroken but she keeps a very clean kennel. Mildred is a sweet girl and would make a good companion for the family! She is heartworm negative and weighs about 60 pounds. She has been spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations through the shelters spay neuter program. Her adoption fee is $35.50.

Starlight, a four-year-old calico. (Contributed)

This gorgeous feline is Starlight! She is a four-year-old calico who was brought to the shelter along with her babies because they couldn’t keepthem all. Starlight has been in here for almost three months. She is a very sweet girl and should do good with children. She was a stray at one time and doesn’t consistently use the litterbox but she is doing better. She does well with other cats but has not been around dogs so a trialadoption is recommended if you have them. Starlight would make a wonderful companion and is worth a trial adoption to see if she’s a goodfit for you! She is FIV/FLV/HW NEGATIVE and ready for her chance at a new loving home! She has been spayed and brought current on her rabies vaccination. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored.
