OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon in Oak Grove while merging onto the interstate.

The accident occurred around 1:07 p.m. on Oct. 27, at the 86-mile marker on Interstate 24. 28-year-old Alan R. Gonzalez of Oak Grove was operating a 2019 Suzuki sports bike eastbound on I-24 when the accident occurred, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.

After merging onto I-24 from US 41-A, he lost control of the bike and struck a guardrail. The unoccupied sports bike then traveled across both eastbound lanes, where it was struck by a semi-truck.

According to KSP, Gonzalez was pronounced deceased on scene by the Christian County Coroner, the driver of the truck was uninjured. The interstate was shut down for several hours following the accident while a preliminary investigation took place.

The investigation is ongoing by Accident Reconstructionist Detective Jacob Stephens. KSP was assisted on scene by the Oak Grove Fire Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky Department of Transportation, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Jone’s Brothers Towing, Christian County Rescue, and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
