HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Dec. 30, new and returning members of the Hopkinsville City Council were joined by family and friends to be officially sworn into office in the city council chambers.
“My first two years have been very blessed. The council that I had before you was good to work with, we all had our ups and downs, we had our agreements and our disagreements,” said Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight during the swearing in. “But I see great things, a bright future for Hopkinsville with this new council. I thank you all for being willing to serve.”
Outgoing council members were previously recognized at the last meeting of the year with Natasha Francis, Bruce Smiley, Doug Wilcox, Steve Keel, Robert Meek, Jamie L. Lienberger, and Matthew Handy all leaving their positions.
Three council members were previously sworn in before the holidays, with the remaining members attending the swearing in on Monday evening. Christian County Judge Andrew Self addressed the city council members to administer the oath of office.
There are seven new council members joining the Hopkinsville City Council, with five returning after being re-elected.
