FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) –Members of the Military Affairs Committee from Trigg, Christian, and Todd Counties took their annual advocacy Citizens for Fort Campbell trip to Washington, D.C. According to a news release from the MAC, the primary objective of this visit was to raise awareness among Kentucky’s congressional representatives about key issues affecting Fort Campbell, its soldiers, and their families.
The Citizens for Fort Campbell advocacy efforts have been going on for over 30 years. These issues significantly impact quality of life and the safety and modernization of the workplace environment on Fort Campbell.
“We are incredibly grateful for their leadership and commitment to fostering a supportive community surrounding Fort Campbell,” said a news release from the MAC. “Their efforts resulted in successful meetings with all Kentucky representatives and senators, allowing them to effectively communicate the needs of Fort Campbell and its service members.”
The Military Affairs Committee is composed of dedicated leaders from the community. Officials attending from Christian County were Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam, Mayor J.R. Knight, Oak Grove City Councilman Isaiah Spencer, Hopkinsville City Councilman Travis Martin, Christian County Chamber of Commerce President Taylor Hayes, and Director of Military Affairs Shannon Lane.
“We cannot thank these leaders enough for their dedication to advocating for Fort Campbell and the vital role it plays in our community” said a statement from Shannon Lane. “Their efforts not only strengthen our partnership with Fort Campbell but also ensure that the needs of our service members are acknowledged and addressed. We are deeply appreciative of our relationship with our congressional leaders and thank them for their time and attention to the needs of Fort Campbell’s soldiers, who stand ready to protect and preserve our country’s values and freedoms.”
