FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 23-year-old soldier could face life in prison after being indicted by the federal grand jury in Paducah for child sexual exploitation offenses.
On June 6, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky said the grand jury returned an indictment on April 15, 2025, charging a Fort Campbell soldier Cameron Lawrence with one count of enticement of a minor, two counts of attempted enticement of a minor, and two counts of sexual exploitation of children.
The defendant made his initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky on June 3, 2025, according to the news release. The Court ordered the defendant detained pending trial. If convicted, Lawrence faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
This case is being investigated by the Paducah Police Department, there is no parole in the federal system. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
