HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – For a third year in a row, The Divine Nine and Friends of Hopkinsville will be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on June 21 at the Boys & Girls Club.
The daylong celebration will kick off at noon until 6 p.m. Part of the event will feature an African fashion show, where kids, teens, and adults will show off African styles on stage. There will also be delicious food, vendors, live entertainment, a kid’s corner, and more fun activities for the community.
Leading up to Juneteenth, they are also presenting a Juneteenth Lecture Series on June 14 at 3 p.m. with the theme of The Power of Resilience: Celebration, Education, and Unity. This will be held at the Pioneer’s Inc. Memorial Complex at 904 North Main Street. Their Guest Speaker will be John F. Baker Jr., the author of The Washingtons of Wessyngton Plantation: Stories of My Family’s Journey to Freedom. Books will be available for purchase after the presentation.
