HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – At 11:35 a.m., the Hopkinsville Fire Department shared that they were on the scene of the 2700 block of Cayce Meade Drive to investigate a possible gas leak.

Emergency services were first alerted to the issue when an individual mowing their grass smelled natural gas in the area. After arriving to the location, firefighters were able to locate the general area of the leak and suspect it to be under or a near a driveway of a residence.

According to HFD, there is no enhanced threat to homes or people nearby. However, the public is encouraged to avoid the area to reduce traffic while they work with the local gas utility to mitigate the leak.
