HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library will once again transform into a lively medieval village for the Ye Olde Bookwyrm Renaissance Faire on Sept. 27. The community is encouraged to dress in Renaissance themed clothing to fully embrace the spirit of the event.

From 12-6 p.m. that Saturday, visitors can enjoy an afternoon of free, family-friendly fun including the Queen’s Quest scavenger hunt, an obstacle course, and crafts and games. The event will also feature a variety of performances, from live music by The Secret Commonwealth Band to scenes from KY Shakespeare and fire stunts.

Guests can even watch live demonstrations from the Nashville School of Historical Fencing. The event will also host a marketplace filled with local vendors and makers, as well as plenty of food.

Other events in September at HCCPL

September will be packed with several other free community events at HCCPL. From Sept. 9-11, the library will host activities honoring first responders, leading up to the Battle of the Badges Kickball Tournament on Sept. 13. The tournament will put the Hopkinsville Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, and Hopkinsville Fire Department against each other at the Sportsplex.

Later in the month, sewing classes will return on Sept. 20, giving participants a chance to learn or sharpen their skills with needle and thread.

Sports fans can also look forward to a special visit from former University of Kentucky basketball star Kyle Macy, who will be at the library Sept. 26 to sign and sell his new book, From the Rafters of Rupp: Legends of Kentucky Basketball.
