HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The weekend is wrapping up with a Heat Advisory that has been issued for all of Christian County by the National Weather Service until Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, temperatures will rise to 97 degrees with heat Index values up to 108 degrees expected to hit the area.

“A dangerous combination of heat and humidity lingers across the area,” said a statement from NWS. “A cold front will bring an end to the heat on Wednesday along with more widespread showers and storms.”

During the next few days, people are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning, keep out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. If spending time outside, extra precautions should be taken including wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
