HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 in Madisonville is investigating a fatal collision involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian that occurred early Monday morning in Christian County.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., Christian County 911 Dispatch contacted KSP Post 2 requesting assistance with a collision on Interstate 24 westbound near the 74-mile marker. The incident involved a semi-truck and trailer versus a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Stephen Adams, 36 years old, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, was operating a semi-truck and trailer westbound on I-24. Mr. Adams reported observing a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the roadway and moved into the left lane to yield. Upon entering the left lane, Mr. Adams struck a pedestrian who was standing in the middle of the roadway.

The pedestrian, identified as Kenneth Blackley, 29 years old, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner. The Plymouth Police Department in Minnesota assisted with notifying Mr. Blackley’s family.

Mr. Adams was not injured in the incident. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Nathan Pedigo (U/789) of the Kentucky State Police.
