HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Drivers across all 11 counties of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 may notice snowplows running their routes today, but there is no cause for concern. Although no snowfall is expected, KYTC is conducting its annual districtwide snow and ice training to ensure crews are fully prepared when winter weather does arrive.

District 2’s snow and ice teams spent the day reviewing operational procedures, testing equipment and driving their assigned routes. New employees used the opportunity to become familiar with the machinery and roadways they will cover during winter events, while veteran operators refreshed their skills and verified that their equipment is winter-ready.

This proactive training helps ensure KYTC can respond quickly and efficiently to keep roadways safe throughout the winter season.
