HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The National Weather Service in Paducah says that dangerously cold temperatures and wind chill values are anticipated as part of the incoming winter storm. This extreme cold is expected to last until early next week.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Christian County, in effect from Jan. 23-25. Forecasted wind chill values for Hopkinsville for the next five days according to NWS.

- Saturday, Jan. 24: 1 degree
- Sunday, Jan. 25: 5 degrees
- Monday, Jan. 26: -5 degrees
- Tuesday, Jan. 27: -6 degrees

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is likely to come through the region. Projections from NWS show that Christian County and the surrounding area has the highest icing potential.
There is currently an 81% chance that Hopkinsville will get at least six inches of snow accumulation. Officials are advising that people delay travel plans if possible. Those who have to be on roadways should drive with extreme caution and have a winter storm kit.
