OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The racing season at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel has begun for 2026, with months of live harness racing and special events open to the public.

Located behind the casino and hotel on Winners Way is a 60,000 square foot equestrian center and 5/8 mile standardbred racing track that will see hundreds of racers coming through for the next few months. These standardbred races have horsemen riding behind in a sulky at a moderate pace.

People are able to enjoy the races from their 13,000 square foot grandstand that overlooks the track, with a patio that provides a view of the homestretch, finish line and winner’s circle. Admission and parking for races are free, with children permitted and welcome at the grandstand.

The horses moved in at the beginning of March, with the first live race taking place on March 23. The racing calendar shows that live races will be held every Monday and Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. through July.

Like previous years, this season’s schedule includes charity dog race days where the community is invited to register their pups to participate in a 60-foot race that will take place between regularly scheduled harness racing. In the past, proceeds have benefited local pet initiatives.

The Corgi race will take place on May 10, and the wiener dog race will be May 25. All dogs of each breed are invited to participate, regardless of ability. Spots are limited and vaccination records must be included with registration. Dogs can be signed up on the Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel website.
