HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The question that often floats around as Halloween nears is, “Are there set times for trick-or-treating?” The City of Hopkinsville does not officially have set hours for trick-or-treating, but they do offer helpful information on how to stay safe and respectful this Halloween.

Chris Jung with the City of Hopkinsville clarifies that trick-or-treating times are often organized and dictated by neighborhoods, not the city. But he wants to remind people to be respectful of neighbors, mindful of noise levels, and do what is best for your neighborhood.

One of the best ways to maintain this respect is for parents to provide adequate supervision while out collecting candy, and try and collaborate with neighbors. The old-fashioned porch light rule is also a good indicator of trick-or-treating participation.

Jung also reminds parents and guardians to prioritize the safety of their children, and try and stay in well-lit, familiar areas, and have reflective clothing or flashlights.

Along with traditional trick-or-treating, there are also several events going on in the community through Halloween. Find them all on our Halloween guide here.
