HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On June 12, good food will fill downtown Hopkinsville as teams spend at the grill to compete at Founders Square during this year’s Squealin’ on the Square.
Limited spots are available with 12 pit crews permitted to sign up. Teams of four people will compete for bragging rights, trophies and cash prizes. There are three categories that teams can participate in; chicken, pork ribs and pork chops.
After judging, the public is invited to swing by at 6 p.m. to taste and enjoy the barbeque. Alongside Squealin’ on the Square, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is continuing their Hoptown Nights series with live music available at multiple downtown locations from 5-9 p.m.
Participating locations include Camo Caravan, The Mixer, Hopkinsville Brewing Company and The Crusty Pig. All of these businesses are part of the Downtown Entertainment District, so patrons are permitted to purchase and carry alcoholic beverages between locations while also stopping by other businesses in the district to shop and sip.
Teams are able to register in person at the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation office, 2600 Thomas Street. Find the registration form on their website. The cost is $50 for the first category, and $20 for each additional category for teams.
