HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The primary election in Christian County was held today, with polls closing at 6 p.m.

The ballot included two candidates for sheriff, and three republican candidates for Mayor of Hopkinsville as well as PVA, fiscal court, and Hopkinsville City Council. The congressional race is also included in this primary to fill Mitch McConnell’s vacant seat. He is Kentucky’s longest serving senator, having held his position at senate since 1985.

Here are the unofficial results from the Christian County Clerks Office for the May primary, including early and absentee votes.

Christian County Sheriff (R)

With no opponents in November, Tyler DeArmond has won the seat.

Mayor City of Hopkinsville (R)

Russ Guffey will face Democrat Markeeta Oldham Wilkerson and Independent Desaepa Vansauwa in November.

Property Valuation Administrator (R)

  • Amber Ezell: 65.75%, 2,870
  • Tabitha Pryor Strader: 34.25%, 1,495 votes

With no opponents in November, Amber Ezell has won the seat.

Christian County Fiscal Court

Magistrate 3rd District (R)

  • George Barnett: 63.45%, 460 votes
  • Tana Loden: 36.55%, 265 votes

George Barnett will face Democrat Faith Watins in November.

Magistrate 5th District (R)

  • Austin Crawford: 64.86%, 312 votes
  • Jonathan Zordel: 30.98%, 149 votes
  • Virginia Hurt-Erxleben: 4.16%, 20 votes

Austin Crawford will face Democrat James “Jim” Smith in November.

Magistrate 7th District (R)

  • Todd Morris: 56.36%, 381 votes
  • John Heltsley: 43.64%, 295 votes

With no opponents in November, Todd Morris has won the seat.

Magistrate 8th District (R)

  • Lucas Stagner: 61.08%, 441 votes
  • John M. Bruce: 38.92%, 281 votes

  • Chance Andrew Tatum: 60.53%, 23 votes
  • Vance D. Smith: 39.47%, 15 votes

  • Donald Marsh: 61.62%, 61 votes
  • Brandi Stallons: 38.38%, 38 votes

What happens next in Christian County elections?

Nov. 3 election: In addition to Nov. 3 being the state general election, it will also be the City of Hopkinsville general election, with the mayor and additional City Council seats on the ballot.

At this time, nonpartisan races throughout the county will also be held which includes mayor and council seats for cities like Oak Grove, Crofton, Pembroke, and Lafayette.
