CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – If the weather holds up this weekend, there are several fun outdoor activities going on around the county for the community to enjoy. Go fishing at Jeffers Bend, head over to Oak Grove for a carnival and free concert, meet local authors, watch wieners dogs race and more.

- Details: Families and young anglers are invited to enjoy the 25th Annual Take Kids Fishing Day. Admission includes a hot dog lunch, drink and event T-shirt for children. Prizes will be awarded for the smallest, largest and most fish caught in each age group.

- Details: Oak Grove Tourism’s 19th Annual Spring Into Summer Festival returns with free carnival rides, food vendors, entertainment, trampoline stunt shows and family activities throughout the weekend. Country music star Brett Young will headline a free concert May 23 at 7 p.m., followed by a drone show. This year’s festival also features a patriotic theme honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary, including veteran parachute jumpers making a special entrance before the concert. Parking and admission are free.

- Details: The Book and Bottle Shop will host its second annual Local Author Round-Up, bringing together published authors from a variety of genres and backgrounds. Attendees can meet local writers, purchase signed books, hear live readings and participate in Q&A sessions and panel discussions focused on the writing and publishing process.

- Details: Casey Jones Distillery will host its “Casey’s ‘Til Late” event featuring an all-day Bottle Your Own experience with the Revere Single Barrel. Smokin O’s will serve a fish fry from 12:30-8 p.m., and live music from Rowdy Dog will take place from 6:30-8:45 p.m. The Memorial Day weekend event invites guests to enjoy food, drinks and entertainment throughout the day.

- Details: Grammy-nominated band The SteelDrivers will perform as part of the LIVE at The Alhambra season. Known for blending bluegrass, country and Southern rock, the group brings a high-energy show featuring soulful vocals and acoustic instrumentation. The lineup includes Richard Bailey, Tammy Rogers, Mike Fleming, Brent Truitt and Matt Dame.

- Details: Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel will host charity Wiener Dog Races alongside regularly scheduled live harness racing. The dachshunds will compete in 60-foot races held between harness races, giving attendees a chance to enjoy both events throughout the day. There will be a charity shirt sale and 50/50 raffle.
