HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The City of Hopkinsville will recognize an investment of up to $50,000 in support of the Christian County Weather Spotters during a check presentation on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Christian County Weather Spotters Network building, 100 Margaret Place in Hopkinsville.
The Hopkinsville City Council approved up to $50,000 to strengthen the Weather Spotters’ ability to serve the community during severe weather events. The funding will first be used by the City of Hopkinsville to purchase a new generator for the organization, helping ensure its operations can remain powered when reliable communication and weather monitoring are most critical.
Christian County Weather Spotters provide an important service to Hopkinsville and Christian County by monitoring weather conditions, sharing timely information and helping residents remain aware and prepared when dangerous weather approaches.
“Our local Weather Spotters serve as trusted eyes on the skies during some of the most critical moments our community faces,” said Mayor Knight. “This investment will help ensure they have the reliable resources needed to continue their work when severe weather threatens our community.”
