Hopkinsville’s nearly 3-week dry spell to be broken by heavy rain Friday

Unseasonably warm temperatures this week are about to drop back down as rain is predicted to come through Hopkinsville.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The dry spell in Hopkinsville and Christian County is about to be broken, with no significant rain accumulation occurring in the past few weeks, according to NOAA Online Weather Data.

Heavy rainfall is currently forecasted for later this week along with cooler temperatures. Earlier this month on Sept. 10, only .38 inches of rain was reported by the National Weather Service, with .30 inches on Sept. 11. No other precipitation accumulation has been logged since then.

The current forecast shows a 90% chance of rain on Friday that will extend overnight and likely into Saturday.

NWS says a cold front will be accompanied by this rain, which will bring in cooler temperatures after a week of summer-like weather that has been around 10 degrees above average. Expect high temperature in the low 70s starting Saturday.
