FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A non-injury crash in Colorado that is being referred to as an “aviation mishap” on Tuesday involved a Black Hawk from Fort Campbell.
A news release from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command disclosed the following information, “The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command is aware of an August 25, 2026, aviation mishap involving four Special Operations Aviation Soldiers and an MH-60 Blackhawk helicopter during routine training operations near Denver, Colorado. Currently, there are no reported injuries.”
“The command takes all training incidents and the safety of our personnel seriously. This is currently the subject of an active safety investigation, and we cannot provide additional comments or information at this time.”
Reporting from CBS News in Colorado confirms that the aircraft is associated with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment based out of Fort Campbell, also known as the Night Stalkers. The identity of those on board has not been released.
Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado said the crash occurred in a wooded area on the east side of Thorodin Mountain. They confirmed in a public statement that there was no fuel leak or fire associated with the incident.
