HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There are plenty of events to enjoy this weekend as Summer Salute takes over downtown with free concerts and carnival rides. Also, hundreds of people will flock to the Trail of Tears for this year’s Pow Wow, a local farm opens fall activities, law enforcement will participate in a kickball competition, and there is a market on Sunday full of local makers.

- Details: The two-day festival will feature live music, food and merchandise vendors, carnival and bounce-zone attractions, a beer garden and family activities. Friday’s entertainment includes The ’77 Experience and Hollywood Swinging, a tribute to Kool & the Gang, while Harper Grace and country star Chris Janson will perform Saturday.
39th Annual Trail of Tears Pow Wow
- Where: Trail of Tears Commemorative Park, Hopkinsville
- When: Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. through Sunday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
- Cost: $5-$10
- Details: The annual Pow Wow will feature traditional Native American dancing, intertribal dances, flute playing, storytelling and Native and local food vendors.
- Where: Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel, Oak Grove
- When: Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 p.m.
- Cost: $46-$115
- Details: Comedian, actor, singer and writer Rodney Carrington will bring his comedy and music to Oak Grove. The platinum-recording artist has released multiple comedy albums and starred in a Netflix special.
- Where: Christian Way Farm & Mini Golf, Hopkinsville
- When: Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Cost: Regular admission price
- Details: Kick off fall at the farm with pumpkin picking, a hayride, hay castle, corn maze and farm animals. Visitors can also enjoy mini golf, the petting zoo and pizza from the Christian Way Cafe.
Battle of the Badges Kickball Tourney
- Where: DeBow Park, Hopkinsville
- When: Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Cost: Free
- Details: Hopkinsville Police Department, Hopkinsville Fire/EMS and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office will face off in a triple-header kickball tournament. Youth ages 8-17 can register to help fill the first responder team rosters and the community is invited to watch.
- Where: Christian County High School, Hopkinsville
- When: Saturday, Sept. 12 from 3-5 p.m.
- Cost: Free
- Details: Community members can tour the new Christian County High School, explore its four academies and learning spaces, and learn how the campus was designed to prepare students for the future. No appointment is needed.
Hoptown Makers’ Market: Fall Edition
- Where: The Silo, Hopkinsville
- When: Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
- Cost: $3; ages 12 and under free
- Details: Shop from local makers and vendors while enjoying food and a day of shopping and community activities.
