HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Hopkinsville Mayor James R. Knight Jr. announced the return of one of the city’s most prestigious programs, the Mayor’s Youth Council, also known as MYC.
This year’s group will represent the program’s ninth class, with applications opening Sept. 14. All interested juniors and seniors who attend school in Christian County – whether they are enrolled in public, private, or home schools – are encouraged to apply.
“I encourage our young future leaders not to miss this unique opportunity,” Mayor Knight said. “Serving on the council gives students a chance to address issues that affect their community, share ideas and youth-centered perspectives with local government, strengthen their leadership skills, and develop a lifelong spirit of service.”
Applicants must:
- Attend school in Christian County
- Be a junior or senior during the 2026-27 school year
- Be available and committed to attending and participating in each session
The deadline to apply for this year’s class is Friday, Sept. 25, 2026. Applications may be submitted online at hoptown.org/myc and must include:
- Student information and a resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- A signed participant release form
MYC selection notices will be emailed to all applicants by October I, 2026. The official class announcement will be made during the Hopkinsville City Council meeting on October 20, 2026.
