Free Movie: Steel Magnolias

  • Where: Alhambra Theatre, Hopkinsville
  • When: Sept. 25, 6:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: Enjoy a free showing of Steel Magnolias at the Historic Alhambra Theatre. Concession proceeds will benefit the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library’s Imagination Library, which provides books to local children.

Movies in the Park: Kung Fu Panda

  • Where: Lafayette City Park
  • When: Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: People are encouraged to bring a chair and free popcorn and soda will be provided. Kung Fu Panda will be played on a big screen at the park.

Pennyrile Walk to End Alzheimer’s

  • Where: Christian County Justice Center, Hopkinsville
  • When: Sept. 26, 9 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: The Pennyrile Walk to End Alzheimer’s will bring the community together to raise awareness and support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The event is part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, a fundraiser supporting the organization’s efforts in the fight against the disease.

Lafayette Market Day

  • Where: Downtown Lafayette
  • When: Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free admission
  • Details: Find a food truck and artisanal, homemade items such as crafts and fresh produce for sale. A bluegrass band will also be performing at 2 p.m.

HCC Pathfinder Cruise-In

  • Where: Hopkinsville Community College, Hopkinsville
  • When: Sept. 26, noon–4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: The annual HCC Pathfinder Cruise-In will feature cars in several award categories, including Chevy/GM, Chrysler, Ford, Orphan, Jeep, Student and President’s Awards. The event will also include giveaways, a DJ and food trucks. Car show participation is free. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Buffalo Rome: The Music of Laurel Canyon

  • Where: Alhambra Theatre, Hopkinsville
  • When: Sept. 26, 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.)
  • Cost: $37.50–$50
  • Details: Buffalo Rome will bring its West Coast country-rock sound to the Alhambra Theatre with a tribute to the music of Laurel Canyon, featuring songs and influences from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and The Mamas & the Papas. The performance celebrates the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s 50th anniversary.
