HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Hopkinsville man was charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on Thursday, Nov. 30, and police say he ended up bringing some with him into the jail.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped the suspect at East Fourth Street and Linda Court after he was traveling 39 mph in a 25 mph zone. An odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle, police said. They searched the vehicle and found synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine and a handgun.

The suspect fled on foot when the drugs were found, but he was apprehended by police shortly after. As he ran, he tossed several baggies of marijuana, and those were recovered, police said.
At the Christian County Jail, a body scan detected he had a baggie in his mouth containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl.
He is charged with trafficking meth, speeding, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking heroin, first-degree promoting contraband, second-degree fleeing or evading police, trafficking cocaine, instructional permit violations, trafficking synthetic drugs, resisting arrest, two counts of trafficking marijuana, and two counts of trafficking fentanyl.
