Donald Gene Loftus, age 81, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Barren Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Loftus was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on January 24, 1942, the son of the late Leslie Ray Loftus and Mary Lucille Russell Loftus. He was a retired electrician for IBEW 816. Donald was a member of Dogwood Christian Church, the VFW, and the Elks Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Duvall.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Leona Gail Duvall Loftus; his sons, David Loftus, Jeff Loftus (Carla) of Nashville, TN, and Kevin Loftus (Susan) of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister, Diane Boley (Randy) of Hopkinsville, KY; his seven grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren.
