Update: Christian County Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday Jan. 17, according to a news release from CCPS. “CCPS will utilize a Non-Traditional Instruction Day NTI Day 3 for tomorrow, Wednesday January 17. Teachers and staff will be available by email, classroom apps or texts for any students or parents needing assistance or support,” said CCPS spokesperson Johnna Brown.
All games and events are cancelled for Wednesday. CCPS will provide an update around 5 p.m. tomorrow regarding any potential closure or delays for Thursday.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With around 1 inch of snow overnight in Hopkinsville and temperatures below freezing, roads, schools, events and businesses in the county have been affected.
This morning, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reports that main roads like the Pennyrile Parkway seem mostly clear, but drivers should not discount the possibility of black ice. State highways and county roads are still covered with a layer of snow, according to CCSO. Deputies recommend people stay off the roadways, and to drive with extreme caution if travel is necessary over the next few days.
On Sunday, Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency due to winter storms with high winds, heavy rain and severe temperature decreases. “We continue to ask Kentuckians to stay weather-aware as snow accumulation and below-freezing temperatures continue to sweep through the commonwealth,” Beshear said.

Christian County Public School’s are closed on Tuesday due to the extreme cold temperatures, the conditions of roads, and school campus parking lots being ice-covered. Families have been notified that Tuesday will be a non-traditional instruction day. All games and school events are also cancelled.
Hopkinsville Community College campuses will be closed Tuesday and classes will be operating remotely.
Hopkinsville Electric System office and drive through closed Tuesday. Bill payments can still be made online.
Christian County Clerks Office will open two hours late at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Oak Grove City Council meeting canceled on Tuesday.
Oak Grove City Hall closed on Tuesday.
MLK Day march and program canceled for Monday. Winners of the art contest will be announced on the Human Rights Commission Facebook page later this week. People who still wish to donate coats can drop them off at the Salvation Army.
Hopkinsville Brewing Company closed for the day due to weather.
