HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With the overall mission of empowering low-income individuals to be self-reliant, Pennyrile Allied Community Services is offering free tax services to the community.
Until April 12, people can visit senior centers across the Pennyrile area to file their simple income taxes for free. With priority given to people over the age of 65 and low-income individuals.
Josh Wilhelm, the Director of Benefits Enrollment and Volunteer Services with PACS, said the program has been in place at their facilities since the 90’s. Each year, they are able to help file around 1,600 tax returns. The program is fully funded by the IRS as part of their Taking Care of the Elderly, or TCE grant. Trained and certified volunteers will help individuals through the filing process.
Wilhelm told Christian County Now it is a great service that a lot of people utilize, but they are always looking to help spread the word. People in Christian County who is interesting in making a tax appointment can call 270-873-8733, or visit the senior center in Hopkinsville.
