HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A woman is facing drug trafficking and ammunition charges after a vehicle she was riding in was involved in a high-speed chase Sunday night.
On May 3 near 10:30 p.m., a deputy with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was seen swerving down Fort Campbell Boulevard near Eagle Way. When emergency lights were activated, the vehicle continued to drive on the roadway, accelerating to speeds over 100 mph.
A pursuit was initiated with the vehicle cutting through the McDonald’s parking lot to East 21st Street and eventually entering a residential neighborhood. CCSO caught up with the vehicle at the intersection of Poston and Oak Street, with nobody inside.
28-year-old Teona Williams of Greenville, North Carolina was located, and she advised that she was the passenger in the vehicle. Williams told CCSO that the driver had fled from the scene on foot, which was confirmed by nearby neighbors. A K9 unit searched the area, and the male driver was not located.
After searching the trunk of the vehicle, a black backpack with Williams identifying information was located which contained a loaded firearm with hollow point ammunition. Behind the driver’s seat, deputies say a designer bag was found containing a large amount of marijuana, prepackaged and sealed marijuana edibles, scale, and an unknown narcotic substance.
The suspect told deputies she picked up the male subject and switched seats so he could drive, claiming that the bag with narcotics was not hers.
Williams was transported to the Christian County Jail where she is charged with Fleeing or Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Trafficking in Marijuana over 8oz, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Drug Unspecified), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Using Restricted Ammo During a Felony (No Shots) and Careless Driving.
