HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The Pennyroyal Arts Council invites the community to a special, free film screening of the beloved classic Steel Magnolias on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Historic Alhambra Theatre in downtown Hopkinsville.
The evening honors country icon and philanthropist Dolly Parton, celebrating her unforgettable screen presence, sharp wit, and enduring legacy of giving back. Dolly fans will recognize the playful significance of the date, 9/25, a nod to her legendary hit song and film, 9 to 5!
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is completely free to the public, offering families, friends, and film lovers a night out in the historic heart of Main Street.
“Dolly Parton has brought so much joy through her music, acting, and incredible commitment to early childhood literacy,” said Margaret Prim, Executive Director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council. “We are thrilled to open our doors for a fun, nostalgic evening that directly gives back to our local library’s Imagination Library program.”
While admission is free, guests can support a great local cause simply by enjoying movie-night snacks. 100% of all concession proceeds from the evening will benefit the Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library’s chapter of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helping provide free, high-quality books to local children each month to foster a lifelong love of reading.
