CROFTON, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Normally a popular place for families to hang out in the water during the summer, the Gordon Park Spray Park in Crofton is temporarily closed.

Crofton Mayor Danny Lacy told Christian County Now that they are working to hopefully repair the splash pad within the next few weeks. An initial assessment of the repairs required parts that were not accessible, so a second engineer will be coming soon to assess. There is no concrete timeline for repairs at this time.

The free splash pad is fenced in with multiple fountains for kids to play in. The rest of Gordon Park has basketball and volleyball courts along with a softball field, walking trail, a newly renovated playground, and a pond for catch and release fishing.

This park is also where Crofton hosts their monthly fish fry for the community, which helps raise money to fund ongoing maintenance at Gordon Park.

The only other public access water recreation location in Christian County is Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center, which is also closed for this season and next season due to needed repairs. In the past, kids have also enjoyed playing in the fountain at the Little River Park in downtown Hopkinsville, but that also is not turned on at this time.
