HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – This weekend there are some great events to check out in and near Hopkinsville. Head up to Crofton for a great plate of food, show off a handmade quilt, or go to Oak Grove for a day of racing that ends in a concert.

Crofton Fish Fry

  • Where: Gordon Park
  • When: May 15 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $15 per adult, $8 per kids
  • Details: This monthly event in Crofton throughout the summer offers an evening of fellowship and food while raising money for Crofton’s Gordon Park. Each plate comes with a few fillets of fried fish, hushpuppies, fries, coleslaw, beans, and a drink.

Kentucky Cruizers Car Show

  • Where: Lot behind First Methodist Church on Bethel Street.
  • When: May 16, 9 a.m. 12 p.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Details: People are invited to walk around and view a variety of cars, while also fundraising for the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library. Food trucks will be on site along with door prizes and awards for car show participants.

Quilt Show & Tell

  • Where: Pennyroyal Area Museum
  • When: May 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Cost: Free for people who bring quilts
  • Details: The Pennyroyal Area Museum is inviting people to show off quilts that they have made as part of their ongoing Quilt Show. Quiltmakers and quilt owners can bring one of their favorite pieces to share its story while visitors browse. Quilts will be displayed for one day only.

Festival of Racing/Jake Owen concert

  • Where: Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel
  • When: May 16, 2 p.m., concert at 8 p.m.
  • Cost: Tickets starting at $136, concert tickets starting at $34
  • Details: Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel will host its inaugural Festival of Racing featuring the $100,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes finals for 4-year-olds, food vendors and wagering on thoroughbred and harness races from across North America, including the Preakness Stakes. Tickets include exclusive race viewing access, hors d’oeuvres throughout the event, a general admission ticket to the Jake Owen concert and access to a VIP viewing area.
