HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The heat index will stay in the triple digits all weekend in Christian County, with an Extreme Heat Warning in place through Aug. 16.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says the area is in the middle of the longest lasting heatwave of this summer, and they are forecasting dangerously hot conditions with little relief overnight as low temperatures stay in the high 70s.
Heat index values may reach 115 degrees and people are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
