HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On Sunday, three men fled the scene of an accident after crashing into the Sunoco gas station on North Drive. The impact caused several fridges and items to be knocked over inside, according to Hopkinsville Police.

When police arrived to the gas station around 12:30 p.m., employees were able to provide footage of the accident along with a description of the vehicle. Officers were able to locate the vehicle at a residence on South Kentucky Avenue.

According to a police report, officers were given permission to search the residence where two men were found hiding in a closet. A K9 was called to the scene after the men refused to exit the closet and were identified as passengers of the vehicle. One of the men had been driving the vehicle before the accident and was inside the store during the accident. He fled the scene on foot.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, was also arrested in the home. He is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident, and resisting arrest.
