HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, community members and the Christian County Chamber of Commerce gathered Monday morning for the opening of the new Life Navigation Hub, a space dedicated to offering street-level engagement for people who are unhoused.

The hub stems from the Salvation Army’s LIFNAV coaching program, that guides people on the path to rehousing. Lorena Hood, Director of Social Services for the Kentucky-Tennessee Division, said the goal of the LIFNAV program is to reduce homelessness by leveraging quality of life goals. “We want to engage, empower, and equip people with those life saving needs,” Hood said.

The Life Navigation Hub, which is located in an old storage space in the soup kitchen, will assist those in need throughout Christian, Todd and Trigg counties, according to Alisa Barton, Director of Social Services for the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville.

“This space was packed to the hilt with things,” Barton said. “It is truly a dream come true.”

Barton likened the hub’s vision to a welcoming dining room in a home, where tables are set for individuals to engage in one-on-one conversations with case managers. Motivational quotes adorn the walls, serving as constant reminders that Hopkinsville embodies a spirit of hope. “Hoptown is Hopetown,” Barton added joyfully.
