OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The City of Oak Grove’s farmers market will make its debut on Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
What began as a small idea on the City of Oak Grove’s Facebook page rapidly gained traction when Mayor Jackie Oliver reached out to a local food truck owner. Lesa Dussault, co-owner of Chef Jamie’s food truck, was enlisted by the mayor to spearhead the initiative.
They will feature 10 to 15 vendors showcasing an array of handcrafted items such as crochet items, jewelry, t-shirts, and jams as well as a vendor with pork rinds. The market will have two local farmers offering freshly harvested produce.
Dussault expressed particular enthusiasm for the farm-fresh produce and culinary delights from Rollin Jennies, a relatively new addition to the local food scene. “Their food is amazing. They only just launched their truck a month ago.”
If all goes well, the market is anticipated to return each month, Lesa told Christian County Now. The market continues to welcome additional vendors, with no charge for participation. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Lesa Dussault on Chef Jamie’s Facebook.
Located behind the Shell gas station at 2905 Walter Garrett Lane, the market promises to be a vibrant gathering celebrating local craftsmanship and agricultural bounty.
