HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 39-year-old man was arrested after threatening to blow up his mother’s house on South Oneal Avenue in Hopkinsville.
Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department arrived at the home Sunday morning where the suspect’s mother said he had made verbal threats against her. The suspect was inside the home and had turned on heaters in an attempt to fill the house with gas. Officers were able to smell the gas after approaching the home, according to a police report.
The neighboring residents were evacuated, and the Hopkinsville Fire Department arrived to shut off the gas lines to the house. The suspect was found inside holding a piece of paper and a lighter after officers kicked down the bathroom door.
He was arrested and is being charged with third degree terroristic threatening, wanton endangerment, and disorderly conduct.
