HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Man charged with drug trafficking after the Hopkinsville Police Department discovered nearly 100 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Wednesday night.
The vehicle was initially pulled over around 6 p.m. on Wednesday for disregarding a stop sign. According to HPD, when the arresting officer approached the vehicle, they could smell marijuana.
Officers conducted an investigation and searched the vehicle, where they found two large plastic bags in the rear passenger’s seat which totaled 93 pounds of marijuana.
The suspect is facing several charges including with disregarding a stop sign, and trafficking in marijuana.
“HPD is committed to removing dangerous drugs from our community while also ensuring the public safety on the roadways,” said a statement from the police department.
