HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A heat advisory is in place for Christian County as increased humidity raises the heat index between 105 and 110 degrees.

The advisory is in place beginning July 30 at 11 a.m. until July 31 at 8 p.m. according to the National Weather Service. With the extreme heat and humidity, people are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check on elderly relatives and neighbors.

There is a 20% chance of storms expected after 1 p.m. on Tuesday that have the potential to become severe, NWS warns of the potential for damaging winds. A higher chance of storms comes later this week overnight on Thursday and Friday afternoon.
