HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The City of Hopkinsville has opened up public bids for construction companies to bring brand new playground equipment to Westside Park.
According to Mike Perry with the Public Works Department, the existing playground was due to be replaced due to its age. The current playground is 22 years old, with some parts becoming obsolete. Keeping parks safe and up to date is part of the city’s efforts to prioritize the safety of the community
The bid written by the city specifies the desired updates to the park which includes a new double deck play structure with climbers and slides, a swing set with two regular swings and two infant swings, and new mulch. New equipment would sit on the footprint of the existing park.
Bids will open through Aug. 27, and they will then be opened and read publicly at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center.
