HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – To help assist people in Kentucky affected by the storms, straight-line winds, and tornadoes that passed through at the end of May, FEMA and Kentucky Emergency Management are opening a Disaster Recovery Center in Christian County.
This center is one of four that will be available across the state, with others placed in Caldwell, Knox, and Trigg counties, according to a news release from KYEM and FEMA. A mobile DRC opened on Aug. 5 at the Hopkinsville Public Works complex at 705 North Main Street. The center will be open through Aug. 10 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
At the DRC, homeowners and renters can apply for FEMA assistance, with representatives on site helping with applications for federal assistance and providing other disaster recovery resources. Residents from any affected surrounding counties can visit the center.
“FEMA financial assistance may include money for basic home repairs or other uninsured, disaster-related needs,
such as childcare, transportation, medical needs, funeral or dental expenses,” said the news release. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and agencies from the Commonwealth will also be available.
