HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 19-year-old was arrested after a motorcycle pursuit through Christian County Wednesday night.
Around 10 p.m. on Sept. 18, Hopkinsville Police officers observed three motorcycles traveling southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville going 90 mph in a 45-mph zone. A traffic stop was attempted near Lovers Lane and all three motorcycles failed to yield to officers, increasing their speed upwards of 130 mph, according to a police report.
After the pursuit began, two of the three motorcycles pulled over. The remaining motorcycle continued onto I-24 westbound, reaching speeds up to 155 mph. HPD continued the pursuit off the interstate, heading toward Gracey Herndon Road, and onto Loop Lane.
While speeding through a turn, the motorcycle crashed into a mailbox and went into the nearby yard. The driver was uninjured and was cleared at Jennie Stuart Health before being transported to Christian County Jail.
The 19- year-old is being charged with speeding, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, and criminal mischief.
